Virtual IOP for nurses and healthcare professionals

Twelve-hour shifts, rotating nights, and a licence that makes privacy more than a preference. The schedule and the confidentiality are the two things that stop healthcare staff getting treatment, and both are solvable.

The short answer

A cohort that fits the rota, and records that stay put.

Treatment runs three to five hours a day on weekdays across morning, afternoon and evening cohorts, by secure video, and we move people between cohorts when the rota changes. Nobody has to find a program that happens to run opposite their shift pattern.

Substance use treatment records carry protection beyond ordinary medical privacy under 42 CFR Part 2. We do not contact an employer, a union or a licensing body without your written authorization, and what we release is limited to what that authorization names.

Where a licensing board or a monitoring program is already involved, the reporting requirement belongs to that body and to you, not to this page. Ask us at the screen exactly what we are able to document, and take the question of what you must report to the board itself or to a lawyer.

What this looks like

The parts that matter to a licensee.

Schedule

Three to five hours a day on weekdays, morning, afternoon or evening cohort. Cohort changes when the rota changes.

Delivery

Entirely by secure video. No treatment site to be seen walking into.

Confidentiality

42 CFR Part 2 protects the substance use treatment record. Nothing is released without your written authorization.

Employer contact

None, unless you authorize it in writing and name the recipient.

Documentation we can provide

Attendance and clinical progress reporting, to the parties you name.

Boards and monitoring programs

Where one is involved, ask us what we can document before you enrol. What you are required to report is the board's answer, not ours.

Co-occurring conditions

Depression, anxiety, PTSD and bipolar treated alongside the substance use by the same team.

Withdrawal

Ambulatory withdrawal management for low-risk withdrawal only. Anything higher needs a bed, and we will say so.

Where you have to be

Physically in California during each session, in a private room on a stable connection.

Coverage

Most commercial, union and employer plans, out of network. Benefit check first, figure in writing.

What this page is not

Legal advice, and not a route around a reporting obligation.

Cost and insurance

We read your plan before you commit to anything.

Covered by many PPO plans. We check your benefits first.

Shift bills most major commercial plans on an out-of-network basis, and in-network credentialing is in process. We read your plan, tell you what it pays toward intensive outpatient care, and give you that number in writing before your first appointment.

Medi-Cal. We cannot bill Medi-Cal today, because we hold no county contract yet. If Medi-Cal is your coverage, tell us and we will point you to a county provider who can help now.

More on coverage: what it costs, what out-of-network means, your carrier.

Questions from clinical staff

The ones people ask first.

Can I keep working during IOP?

Most people do. Three to five hours a day in a cohort that sits outside your shift is the arrangement, and we move you between cohorts rather than asking you to move your rota. See how the schedule fits a full-time job.

Will my employer or my board be told?

Not by us. We release only what you authorize in writing, to the recipients you name, and substance use treatment records carry additional protection under 42 CFR Part 2.

Do you work with people already in a monitoring program?

We can provide attendance and clinical documentation to whoever you authorize. Whether that satisfies a particular program's requirements is a question for that program, and we will tell you what we can document before you enrol.

Is this confidential from colleagues?

There is no building to be seen entering, and no sessions you attend from a hospital network. What the record holds is covered by the notice of privacy practices.

What if I need medically managed withdrawal?

Then this is the wrong level of care and we will say so at the screen, and help you find the right one. Ambulatory withdrawal management here covers low-risk withdrawal only.

Ask the confidentiality questions first.

On the first call we tell you what we can document, to whom, and what stays sealed, before any clinical conversation begins.

If you or someone you are with is in immediate danger, call or text 988 (the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) or call 911. Shift Support Network is an outpatient program and is not an emergency service. Related: First responders · Concierge · Privacy practices · Treatment while working.

Verify your benefits, same business day.

Send us the carrier on your card and we tell you what the plan actually covers before you commit. Call anytime and leave a message. We return calls the same business day.
