Shift is DHCS-licensed (Cert 191663AP) for ASAM Outpatient (1.0), Intensive Outpatient (2.1), and ambulatory withdrawal management, with PHP-intensity (2.5) hour expansion case-by-case under payer authorization. Resident attends Shift's IOP from inside your house. House structure stays intact. No transport, no discharge, no bed turnover. Credentialing with Anthem CA, Blue Shield CA, Health Net, Kaiser NorCal, and major national carriers.

No transport. No discharge. No bed turnover. Your housing structure does what it does well; our licensed clinical layer does what it does well.

House manager or program director calls

Tell us the resident's payer and what's changed clinically. We confirm clinical fit on the first call. Same-day ASAM screen for referrals received before 4 PM PT.

ASAM assessment + auth

Our DHCS-licensed CA clinician runs the ASAM Criteria 4th edition assessment via video. We file prior auth with the resident's plan, IOP (2.1) is the standard authorization; PHP-intensity (2.5) hour expansion when medical necessity supports.

IOP starts inside your house

Resident attends Shift's IOP sessions from the house, common room, bedroom, anywhere with privacy. House structure stays intact. We coordinate with your case manager and report back on attendance and progress.

Resident stays

Clinical step-up without occupancy loss. The bed stays filled. The resident stays in the structure that's working.

Clean referral

No payments to your house, no fees per resident, no benefits to staff for referrals. No referral fees, no kickbacks, no exceptions.

Closed loop

You receive participation status, missed sessions, and discharge planning back to your house team, written, on the cadence you set.

When a resident needs the clinical layer

Signs the resident needs more than your program is licensed to give.

Sober living and lower-LOC programs do critical work. They're also not DHCS-licensed to deliver the clinical hours a resident may need when things change. Add Shift's licensed IOP (or PHP-intensity hour expansion when authorized) without losing the housing structure, and without sending the resident back to residential.

A relapse, but not a higher LOC need

Resident needs intensive clinical structure but ASAM places at 2.1 IOP, not residential or medically managed withdrawal. Shift's IOP is exactly that level.

Mental health symptoms emerging

Co-occurring depression, anxiety, or trauma symptoms outside what your house program is staffed for.

MAT initiation or stabilization

Resident starting buprenorphine or naltrexone gets the medical and clinical wrap-around under our Medical Director. Methadone-maintained residents stay with their OTP; we coordinate.

Discharge from residential into your house

Resident leaving a higher LOC into your housing, Shift's IOP provides the licensed clinical hours during the first 30-90 days of transition.

We do not provide residential, inpatient, or medically managed withdrawal services (ASAM 3.1, 3.5, 3.7, 4.0). Substance use treatment records are protected under 42 CFR Part 2. We do not pay for referrals and we do not accept payment for them. No fees, no per-resident arrangements, no benefits to staff. This applies to every partnership we build.
