Your card shows the plan option and group number. That tells us whether you have a PPO-style option with out-of-network benefits or an HMO or EPO-style option that usually pays little out of network. Large employers usually self-fund their plans, which means the employer's plan document, not the carrier, sets the out-of-network terms. More on the carrier side: Aetna.

Questions members ask first

Plain-English answers.

Does the Marsh McLennan plan cover virtual IOP?

Many Marsh McLennan members have an out-of-network behavioral health benefit that can apply to intensive outpatient care, including by telehealth. Terms vary by plan option, so we check yours free before you start.

Is Shift in network with Aetna?

No. Shift is out of network with Aetna and with commercial carriers generally. We pull your out-of-network benefit and give you the cost before the first session.

Where do I need to be to attend?

Telehealth licensure follows where you are physically located during sessions. Substance use and mental health care are available to members in California. Mental health care is available to members in New York and New Jersey.

What times are the groups?

Evenings Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 5:30 to 8:30 PM Pacific (8:30 to 11:30 PM Eastern). Mornings Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM Pacific (1:00 to 4:00 PM Eastern). Afternoon groups are arranged at intake.

Will my employer find out?

No information goes to an employer without your written consent. Substance use treatment records are protected under 42 CFR Part 2 in addition to HIPAA.

How do I find out what my plan pays?

Send us the member ID and group number on your card, or call (805) 815-6777. We call Aetna, pull your out-of-network benefit and tell you the cost, usually the same business day.

Find out what your Marsh McLennan plan pays.

A free benefit check and a short clinical screen. You get the level of care, the schedule and the cost before you agree to anything.

If you or someone you are with is in immediate danger, call or text 988 (the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) or call 911. Shift Support Network is an outpatient program and is not an emergency service.

Verify your benefits, same business day.

Send us the carrier on your card and we tell you what the plan actually covers before you commit. Call anytime and leave a message. We return calls the same business day.
