Orange County · Irvine, Santa Ana, AnaheimVirtual intensive outpatient program for Orange County
Intensive outpatient treatment delivered by video to people in Orange County. Three to five hours a day on weekdays, in whichever cohort fits the commute you are no longer making. You need to be physically in California during each session.
No building in Orange County.
Shift has no clinic in Irvine, Santa Ana, Anaheim or anywhere else in the county. Care is delivered by video, which in a county where a fifteen-mile trip can take an hour is the difference between a program someone finishes and a program someone looks at once.
Our clinicians are licensed in California, and California telehealth rules follow the patient. You need to be physically in California during every session. Shift is certified by the California Department of Health Care Services, certification 191663AP, for outpatient treatment, intensive outpatient treatment and ambulatory withdrawal management.
What you would actually be attending.
Three to five a day, weekdays, in a morning, afternoon or evening cohort.
Intensive outpatient at ASAM level 2.1, by secure video.
With the same clinician week to week, on top of the group hours.
Family programming and a couples track, when the clinical plan calls for them.
Ambulatory withdrawal management for low-risk withdrawal only.
Depression, anxiety, PTSD and bipolar treated alongside the substance use, by the same team.
Eight to twelve weeks at the intensive level, then a step down.
Medical detox in a bed, residential treatment, acute psychiatric stabilization. All three need a building, and we will say so.
Most commercial, union and entertainment-industry plans, out of network. Benefit check first, in writing.
The Orange County Health Care Agency runs the county behavioral health network and publishes its own directory. Start there if commercial insurance is not what you have.
We read your plan before you commit to anything.
Covered by many PPO plans. We check your benefits first.
Shift bills most major commercial plans on an out-of-network basis, and in-network credentialing is in process. We read your plan, tell you what it pays toward intensive outpatient care, and give you that number in writing before your first appointment.
Medi-Cal. We cannot bill Medi-Cal today, because we hold no county contract yet. If Medi-Cal is your coverage, tell us and we will point you to a county provider who can help now.
More on coverage: what it costs, what out-of-network means, your carrier.
The ones people ask first.
Is there a Shift office in Orange County?
No. We have no treatment site in the county or anywhere else. Every session happens by video, from wherever you are in California.
Can I do this around a commute and a job?
That is the design. Morning, afternoon and evening cohorts, and we move you between them when the schedule changes.
What if I do not have commercial insurance?
Tell us on the first call. We cannot bill Medi-Cal today, and rather than leave you with nothing we point you to a county provider who can help now.
What are the public options in Orange County?
For a crisis, call or text 988, or 911 if anyone is in immediate danger. The Orange County Health Care Agency runs the county's behavioral health network and publishes its provider directory.
Do I need good internet for this?
A stable connection and a private room, on a laptop, tablet or phone. We check that with you on the first call rather than discovering it in session one.
Start with a call or a benefits check.
Five minutes either way. We read your plan, a licensed clinician does a clinical screen, and if Shift is the right level of care you start, next business day on most cases.
If you or someone you are with is in immediate danger, call or text 988 (the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) or call 911. Shift Support Network is an outpatient program and is not an emergency service. Related: Los Angeles · Long Beach · Riverside · San Diego · Virtual IOP California.
